CROCHET BAG
Finished bag measures approximately 7 1/2" high x 11" wide.
MODA DEA®"Eclipse™": 2 Balls each 2595 Peri CA and 2567 Nile Green CB.
Crochet Hook: 5.5mm [US I-9].
Yarn needle
GAUGE: 16 sts = 4"; 11 rows = 4" in pat. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge
Note: Felting is not an exact science due to the many different variables, however up to 25% of the height and 15% of the width may be lost in the felting process.
BAG: With CA, ch 104 loosely. Row 1 (Right Side): (Sc, 2 dc) all in 2nd ch from hook, skip next 2 ch, * (sc, 2 dc) all in next ch, skip next 2 ch; rep from * to last ch; sc in last ch; turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, (sc, 2 dc) all in first sc, * skip 2 dc, (sc, 2 dc) all in next sc; rep from * to last sc; sc in last sc; turn.
Rep Row 2 for pat and work 4 more rows with CA, then 4 rows CB, 4 rows CA, 8 rows CB, 4 rows CA, 4 rows CB, and 6 rows CA. Fasten off.
STRAP: With CB, ch 8. Work in pat with CB only until approximately 40" from beginning. Fasten off.
FINISHING: Fold bag in approximate thirds as shown and sew side seams through 2 thicknesses only. Sew ends of strap over the side seams approximately 3" down.
Felting: Place bag in the washing machine in the smallest load with hottest water setting and a small amount of liquid detergent through two wash cycles. Remove bag and check on amount of felting during this process. Two or more wash cycles may be needed before you will be satisfied with the effect. One or two tablespoons of baking soda in the wash may speed the process – check frequently. Repeat until pieces are felted and bag is desired size. Rinse in cold water to stop the felting process and to remove the soap. Pull bag into shape and allow to dry away from sun or heat for a day or two.
Felting will cause a certain amount of pilling which is easily removed by brushing briskly with a hard nylon brush.
