Crochet Hook: 4mm [US G-6].
Yarn needle.
GAUGE: 3 shells = 3 1/4"; 12 rows = 4" in pat. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.
NOTE: Blanket is worked in 2 strips.
RIGHT-HAND STRIP 1: With CA, ch 80. Row 1 (Wrong Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook, [skip next 2 ch; 5 dc in next ch – shell made; skip next 2 ch, sc in next ch] 13 times; turn. – 13 shells.
Row 2 (Right Side): Ch 3, 2 dc in first sc, [skip next 2 dc, sc in next dc, skip next 2 dc, shell in next sc] 12 times, skip next 2 dc, sc in next dc, skip next 2 dc, 3 dc in last sc; turn – 12 shells.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first dc, skip next 2 dc, [shell in next sc, skip next 2 dc, sc in next dc, skip next 2 dc] 12 times, shell in next sc, skip next 2 dc, sc in top of ch-3; turn – 13 shells.
Rows 4-43: Rep Rows 2 and 3, changing to CB in last sc of Row 43.
