MODA DEA® "Baby Talk™": 2 1/2 (2 3/4, 3, 3 1/4) Ounces No. 7240 Spearmint CA, 1 1/2 (1 3/4, 2, 2 1/4) ounces No. 7281 Baby Blue CB, and 1 (1 1/4, 1 1/4, 1 1/2) ounces No. 7201 White CC.

Knitting Needles: 3.25mm [US 3] and 4mm [US 6].
Stitch holders, yarn needle; 5 (6, 6, 7) buttons, sewing needle and thread.

GAUGE: 22 sts = 4"; 33 rows = 4" in pat on larger needles. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.

To Fit Chest: 17 1/2 (18 1/2, 19 1/2, 20 1/2)".
Finished Chest Measurement: 21 1/2 (23, 24, 25)".



BACK-Band: With smaller needles and CA, cast on 59 (63, 67, 69) sts. Work Band in Moss st as follows:
Row 1 (Right Side): K1, * P1, K1; rep from * across.
Rep Row 1 until 12 (14, 14, 16) rows in all have been completed. Change to larger needles and pat as follows:

Rows 1 and 3: With CB, Knit.
Rows 2 and 4: With CB, Purl.
Rows 5 and 6: With CC, Knit.
Row 7: With CA, K1, * sl 1 purlwise, K1; rep from * across.
Row 8: With CA, Purl.
Rows 9 and 10: With CB, rep Rows 1 and 2.
Rows 11 and 12: With CC, rep Rows 1 and 2.
Rows 13-16: With CA, K1, * P1, K1; rep from * across.

Rep Rows 1-16 for pat until 10 (11, 11, 12)" from beg, end wrong side row.

Shape Shoulders: Bind off 6 (6, 7, 7) sts at beg of next 4 rows, then 6 (7, 6, 6) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Put rem 23 (25, 27, 29) sts on a holder.

LEFT FRONT: With smaller needles and CA, cast on 29 (31, 33, 35) sts. Work Band and pat same as for back until 8 1/2 (9 1/2, 9 1/2, 10 1/2)" from beg, end right side row.

Shape Neck: Bind off 6 (6, 6, 7) sts at beg of next row. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row until 18 (19, 20, 20) sts rem. Work even in pat until same length as back to shoulder, end same pat row as back.

Shape Shoulder: Bind off 6 (6, 7, 7) sts at beg of next 2 right side rows. Work 1 row. Bind off rem 6 (7, 6, 6) sts.

RIGHT FRONT: Work same as left front reversing neck and shoulder shapings.

SLEEVES: With smaller needles and CA, cast on 33 (35, 35, 39) sts. Work Band and Rows 1-4 same as for back. Continue in pat same as back, shaping sides by inc 1 st each end of next row, then every 4th row until there are 49 (55, 55, 61) sts, working added sts into pat. Work even until 6 1/2 (7, 7 1/2, 8)" from beg. Bind off.

FINISHING Neckband: Sew shoulder seams. With right side facing, smaller needles and CA, pick up and K16 (16, 18, 20) sts up right neck, K23 (25, 27, 29) sts on back neck holder, pick up and K16 (16, 18, 20) down left neck – 55 (57, 63, 69) sts. Work in Moss st for 4 rows. Bind off loosely in pat.

Button Band: With right side facing, smaller needles and CA, pick up and K51 (57, 57, 61) sts across right front edge for boys/left front edge for girls. Work in Moss st for 6 rows. Bind off.

Buttonhole Band: Work same as button band across rem edge until 2 rows of Moss st have been completed. Mark for 5 (6, 6, 7) evenly spaced buttonholes.

Next Row: [Work pat to marker, work 2 sts tog, yo] 5 (6, 6, 7) times, work pat to end. Work 3 rows of Moss st. Bind off.

Sew on buttons to correspond to buttonholes. Place center of sleeve top at shoulder seam and sew in place. Sew side and sleeve seams.
