MODA DEA® "Metro™": Scarf:
1 Ball each 9512 Ocean CA, 9446 Santa Fe CB and 9920 Berry CC; Hat: 1 Ball CA, small amounts CB and CC; Mitts:
1 Ball each CA, CB, CC.
Knitting Needles: 5.5mm [US 9] and 6.5mm [US 10.5]. Double Pointed Needles: 6.5mm [US 10.5] for Hat.
Yarn needle; stitch holder and stitch markers for Mitts.
GAUGES: 13 sts = 4"; 19 rows = 4" in
St st on 6.5mm needles. 13 sts = 4"; 24 rows = 4" in Garter
st on 6.5 needles. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles
to obtain the gauge.
To Fit Bust: 32 (34-36, 38)". Finished Bust: 34 (36, 39)".
SCARF
With larger needles and CA cast on 234 sts. K 1
row CA, 1 row CB, 1 row CC.
Do not cut colors but drop and pick up as needed. Rep until approximately
6" from beg. Bind off.
HAT
With double pointed needles and CB, cast on 66
sts evenly divided on 3 needles. Join and work in rnds of K1, P1
ribbing for 4 rnds. Change to CA and K every rnd
until 51/2" from beg. Shape Crown-Next Rnd: [K9, K2tog] 6 times –
60 sts. Next Rnd: [K8, K2tog] 6 times – 54 sts. Next Rnd: [K7, K2tog] 6 times – 48 sts.
Continue in this manner, decreasing 6 sts every rnd until 12 sts
rem. Last Rnd: [K2, K2tog] 3 times – 9 sts. Cut yarn leaving
a 12" tail. Thread yarn tail in a yarn needle and weave through
remaining sts; pull up tightly; fasten securely.Weave in ends.
Flower: With smaller needles and CC
cast on 10 sts. Knit 1 row, inc in every st – 20 sts. Next
Row: * Yo, K1; rep from * across – 40 sts. Next
Row: (K1, P1) in each st across – 80 sts. Bind off
loosely. Roll strip into flower shape and tack in place. Sew leaves
and flower to hat above the ribbing.
MITTENS
With smaller needles and CC cast on 31 sts. Work inner ribbing as
follows: Row 1 (Right Side): K1, * P1, K1; rep from * across. Row 2: P1, * K1, P1; rep from * across. Rep Rows
1 and 2 until 21/2" from beg, end Row 2. Put sts on a holder. Cuff: With larger needles and CA, cast on 31 sts.
Marking first row as the right side and working 3 rows with each
color in the sequence CA, CB, CC, work 39 rows
as follows: Row 1: Purl. Row 2: Knit. Row 3: Purl. Rep Rows
1-3 for pat until 39 rows have been completed, end color sequence
with CA.
Join Ribbing and Cuff: With right side of cuff
facing, place sts from holder behind and with CC work Row 1 of ribbing
through both layers across all sts (K tog 1 st from cuff and 1 st
from Ribbing, P tog 1 st
from cuff and 1 st from ribbing) – 31 sts. Work in ribbing
for 1", end wrong side row. Work in St st, beg K row, for 1",
end P row.
Thumb Gusset: Place a marker each side of the
3 center sts. Inc 1 st after first marker and before 2nd marker
every K row until there are 41 sts, end K row.
Thumb: P26, turn, cast on 1 st, K12 including
caston st, turn, cast on 1 st, P13 including cast-on st. Work even
in St st on these 13 sts for 13/4", end P row.
Next Row: P1, [P2tog] 6 times. Cut yarn; weave
through rem sts; pull up tightly; fasten securely. Sew thumb seam.
With wrong side facing, beg below thumb gusset, pick up and P2 sts
at base of thumb, P to end – 32 sts. Next Row: K15, K2tog, K15 – 31 sts. Work
even until 51/2" above ribbing, end P row.
Row: K1, sl 1, K1, psso, K7, K2tog, K3, sl 1,
K1, psso, K7, K2tog, K1 – 23 sts. Next Row: Purl. Continue
in this manner, dec 4 sts every K row until the row: K1, sl 1, K1,
psso, K1, K2tog, K3, sl 1, K1, psso, K1, K2tog, K1 – 11 sts.
Next Row: P5, P2tog, P4 – 10 sts. Cut yarn
leaving a long end. Place 5 sts on each of two needles and graft
together. Sew side seam of mitt and cuff, then sew seam of ribbing.
