yard ball).

Crochet Hook: 5mm [US H-8].

Yarn needle.

GAUGE: Hat: Rnds 1-3 = 4” across. Scarf: 7 rows = 4”. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauges.


HAT

Ch 4; join with a sl st in first ch to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as a dc on this and following
rnds), 11 dc in ring; join with a sl st in 3rd ch of ch-3
– 12 sts.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, ch 4, * sc in
next dc, ch 4; rep from * around; join with a sl st in
first sc – 12 ch-4 sps.

Rnd 3: (Sl st, ch 4, dc, ch 1, dc) all in first ch-4 sp, *
([dc, ch 1] twice, dc) all in next sp; rep from *
around; join in 3rd ch of ch-4 – 24 ch-1 sps.

Rnd 4: (Sl st, ch 1, sc) all in first ch-1 sp, ch 4, * sc
in next ch-1 sp, ch 4; rep from * around; join in first
sc – 24 ch-4 sps.

Rnd 5: (Sl st, ch 4, dc) all in first ch-4 sp, * (dc, ch
1, dc) all in next ch-4 sp; rep from * around; join in
3rd ch of ch-4.

Rnds 6-15: Rep Rnds 4 and 5 five times more.

Rnd 16: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, sc in each sp
and dc around; join in first sc.

Rnd 17:
Ch 1, sc in each sc around; join. Fasten off.
Weave in ends.

SCARF

Ch 27.

Row 1 (Right Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook, * ch
4, skip next 4 ch, sc in next ch; rep from * across;
turn – 5 ch-4 sps.

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as a dc on this and following
rows), [(dc, ch 1, dc, ch 2) all in next ch-4 sp] 4
times, (dc, ch 1, dc) all in last ch-4 sp, dc in last sc;
turn – 4 ch-2 sps.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first dc, [ch 4, sc in next ch-2 sp]
4 times, ch 4, sc in 3rd ch of ch-3; turn.
Rep Rows 2 and 3 until scarf measures about 70”
long, end by working Row 3. Fasten off. Weave in
ends.

Fringe:
Cut 18” lengths of yarn. Holding 3 strands
together for each fringe, fold strands in half forming
a loop, insert hook from the wrong side of the fabric
into a ch-sp on one short end of scarf and into the
loop; draw the loop through the fabric, then draw
the yarn ends through the loop and tighten. Repeat
in each ch-sp on both short ends. Trim.
