MODA DEA™ "Cutesie™", Art. R129 (1.76 ounce/46 yard ball): 3 (4, 4, 5) Balls No. 3641 Minty.

Knitting Needles: 5.5mm [US 9] and 8mm [US 11].
Crochet Hook: 5.5mm [US I-9].
Yarn needle, 2 stitch holders, two 5/8" buttons, sewing needle and thread.

GAUGE: 13 sts = 4"; 15 rows = 4" in St st on larger needles. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.

To Fit Chest: 18 (19, 20, 22)".
Finished Chest: 21 (22, 23, 25)".

BACK: With larger needles, cast on 34 (36, 38, 42) sts. Purl 2 rows. Change to St st, beg K row (Right Side), and work even until 6 (6 1/2, 7, 8)" from beg, end P row.

Shape Armholes: Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows – 28 (30, 32, 36) sts. Dec 1 st each end of next 2 K rows –24 (26, 28, 32) sts. Work even until armhole measures 3 1/2 (3 3/4, 4, 4 1/2)", end P row.

Divide for Neck/Shape Shoulder: K9 (9, 10, 11) sts; turn and put rem sts on a holder. P 1 row. K to last 2 sts; K2tog – 8 (8, 9, 10) sts. P 1 row. Bind off.

Leave center 6 (8, 8, 10) sts on a holder; join yarn to rem sts and complete to correspond to first side reversing shaping.


LEFT FRONT: With larger needles, cast on 15 (15, 16, 17) sts. P 1 row.
Next Row (Wrong Side): K2, P to end.
Next Row (Right Side): K.
Rep last 2 rows until 6 (6 1/2, 7, 8)" from beg, end wrong side row.

Shape Armhole: Bind off 3 sts at beg of next row. Work 1 row. Dec 1 st at beg of next 2 K rows – 10 (10, 11, 12) sts. Work even until left front measures same as back to left shoulder. Bind off.
(Note: Left Front shoulder has 2 more stitches than Left Back shoulder.)

RIGHT FRONT: With larger needles, cast on 26 (28, 30, 34) sts. P 1 row.
Next Row (Wrong Side): P to last 4 sts; K4.
Next Row (Right Side): K.
Rep last 2 rows until 6 (6 1/2, 7, 8)" from beg,
end K row.

Shape Armhole: Bind off 3 sts at beg of next row. Dec 1 st at end of next 2 K rows – 21 (23, 25, 29) sts. Work even until armhole measures 3 (3 1/4, 3 1/2, 4)", end K row.

Shape Neck: P9 (9, 10, 11); turn and put rem sts on a holder. Dec 1 st at beg of next row – 8 (8, 9, 10) sts. Work even until piece measures same as back to shoulder. Bind off.
Leave next 6 (8, 8, 10) sts on holder; join yarn to rem sts, work to end. Dec 1 st at neck edge on next row – 5 (7, 7, 9) sts. Work even until piece measures same as back to shoulder. Bind off.


SLEEVES: With larger needles, cast on 16 (16, 18, 20) sts. P 2 rows. Change to St st, beg K row, and shape sides by inc 1 st each end of next row, then every 4th row until there are 28 (30, 32, 36) sts.
P 1 row.

Shape Cap: Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows – 22 (24, 26, 30) sts. Bind off 2 sts at beg of every row until 10 (12, 14, 14) sts remain. Next Row: [K2tog] 5 (6, 7, 7) times – 5 (6, 7, 7) sts. Bind off.

FINISHING: Sew shoulder seams (do not sew left shoulder of the Right Front). Sew side and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves.

Neck Edging: With right side facing and smaller needles, pick up and K37 (39, 41, 45) sts evenly spaced around neckline (do not pick up sts across the 2 extra sts of Left Front). K 3 rows. Bind off loosely. Sew row ends of Neck Edging at left to the 2 extra stitches of Left Front.

Button Loops: Mark positions for 2 button loops at top of right front shoulder edge. With right side facing and crochet hook, join yarn to shoulder edge; ch 1, [sc to marker, ch 3] twice, sc to end. Fasten off. Sew buttons to left back shoulder seam to correspond to loops.
