Circular Knitting Needle: 4mm [US 6] – 29".
Crochet Hook: 4mm [US G-6].
Yarn needle; stitch markers; stitch holder; seven buttons; sewing needle and thread.

GAUGE: 18 sts = 4"; 26 rows = 4" in St st with larger needles. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.

Shape Sides: Dec 1 st each end of next row, then every 6th row until 74 (84, 94, 98) sts rem. Work 9 rows even. Inc 1 st each end of next row, then every 10th row until there are 82 (92, 102, 106) sts. Work even until 11 1/2 (11 3/4, 12 1/4, 12 1/2)" from beg, end P row.

Shape Armhole/Front Slope: Bind off 3 (4, 5, 6) sts at beg of next row – 38 (42, 46, 47) sts. P 1 row-mark first st of last row. Dec 1 st at armhole edge on next 5 (7, 9, 9) rows, then every K row 2 (3, 4, 5) times AND AT THE SAME TIME dec 1 st at center front slope edge on next 4 (5, 6, 6) K rows, then every 4th row 0 (1, 1, 2) times – 27 (26, 26, 25) sts. Now dec 1 st at center front ONLY every 4th row from previous front dec until 18 sts rem. Work even until front measures same as back to shoulder, end WS row.
Shape Shoulder: Bind off 6 sts at beg of next 2 K rows. P 1 row. Bind off rem 6 sts.

RIGHT FRONT: Work same as left front EXCEPT reverse all shaping.

SLEEVES: Cast on 40 (42, 44, 46) sts. Marking first row as RS, K 4 rows. Change to larger needles and St st, beg K row, shaping sides by inc 1 st each end of 3rd row, then every 10 (8, 8, 8)th row until there are 56 (46, 58, 56) sts, then every 12 (10, 10, 10)th row until there are 60 (64, 68, 70) sts. Work even until 17 1/2 (18, 18, 18 1/2)" from beg, end P row.
Shape Cap: Bind off 3 (4, 5, 6) sts at beg of next 2 rows – 54 (56, 58, 58) sts. Dec 1 st at each end of next 3 rows, then each end of next 3 K rows, then each end of every 4th row until 38 (40, 42, 42) sts rem. P 1 row. Now dec 1 st at each end of every K row until 34 sts rem then every row until 24 sts rem. Bind off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows – 16 sts. Bind off.

FINISHING: Sew shoulder seams. Sew side and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves.
Front Edging: With RS facing and smaller needles, pick up and K58 (58, 60, 62) sts up right front to marker, 52 (54, 56, 56) sts to shoulder, 26 (28, 30, 30) sts across back, 52 (54, 56, 56) sts to marker, and 58 (58, 60, 62) sts to lower edge – 246 (252, 262, 266) sts. K 1 row.
Buttonhole Row: K2 (2, 4, 6), [yo, K2tog, K7] 6 times, yo, K2tog, K to end. Bind off in K.
Sew buttons to correspond to buttonholes.

Fringe (Worked around lower edges of body and sleeves): Cut 8" lengths of yarn. Fold 2 lengths in half. Insert crochet hook through fabric from the WS and into loop; bring loop through the fabric; bring yarn ends through the loop; tighten. Repeat in each st around. Trim ends.
