MODA DEA™ "Jai Alai", Art. R111 (1.76 ounce/93 yard ball): 9 (9, 10, 10) Balls No. 6975 Gem CA.

TLC® "Cotton Plus™", Art. E516 (3.5 ounce/186 yard ball): 5 (5, 6, 6) Balls No. 3002 Black CB.

Knitting Needles: 4mm [US 6].
Circular Knitting Needle: 3.25mm [US 3] – 36".
Yarn needle; stitch markers.

GAUGE: 24 sts = 4"; 28 rows = 4" in St st with CA. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.

To Fit Bust: 28-30 (32-34, 36-38, 40-42)".
Finished Bust Measurement: 34 1/2 (38 1/2, 42 1/2, 46 1/2)" – without band.


BACK: With CA and larger needles, cast on 104 (116, 128, 140) sts. ** Work in St st for 14 rows, beg K row, end P row.

With CB work 4 rows in St st.
With CA work 8 rows in St st.
Rep the last 12 rows for stripe pat until 16" from beg, end P row. **

Shape Armholes: Keeping continuity of stripe pat, bind off 6 (8, 10, 11) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each end of every K row until 80 (84, 88, 96) sts rem. Work even until armholes measure 7 1/2 (8, 8 1/4, 8 1/2)", end P row.

Shape Shoulders: Bind off 8 (8, 8, 9) sts at beg of next 4 rows, then 8 (8, 9, 10) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Bind off rem 32 (36, 38, 40) sts.

LEFT FRONT: With CA and larger needles, cast on 52 (58, 64, 70) sts. Work same as back from ** to **.

Shape Armhole: Keeping continuity of stripe pat, bind off 6 (8, 10, 11) sts at beg of next row. P 1 row. Dec 1 st at beg of every K row until 40 (42, 44, 48) sts rem. P 1 row.

Shape Front Slope: Mark st at neck edge of last row to indicate beg of front slope shaping. Dec 1 st at end of every K row 13 (17, 19, 20) times – 27 (25, 25, 28) sts. Dec 1 st at end of every other K row (every 4th row) 3 (1, 0, 0) times – 24 (24, 25, 28) sts. Work even until front measures same as back to beg of shoulder shaping, end P row.

Shape Shoulder: Bind off 8 (8, 8, 9) sts at beg of next 2 K rows. P 1 row. Bind off rem 8 (8, 9, 10) sts.

RIGHT FRONT: Work same as left front reversing all shapings and working one more row before start of armhole and shoulder shapings.

SLEEVES: With CA and larger needles, cast on 55 (55, 57, 59) sts. Beg with 14 rows of St st with CA and then rep 12 stripe pat rows same as back, shape sides by inc 1 st each end 5th row, then every 8 (6, 6, 5) rows 1 (1, 1, 2) time – 59 (59, 61, 65) sts. Inc 1 st each end of every 10 (6, 6, 4) rows 9 (2, 14, 9) times – 77 (63, 89, 83) sts. Inc 1 st each end of needle every 0 (8, 8, 6) rows 0 (10, 1, 9) times – 77 (83, 91, 101) sts. Work even until 17" from beg, end P row.

Shape Cap: Keeping continuity of stripe pat, bind off 3 (4, 5, 6) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each end of every K row until 41 (45, 53, 61) sts rem, then dec 1 st each end of every row until 15 sts rem. Bind off.

FINISHING-Front Band: Sew shoulder seams. With right side facing, CB, and smaller circular needle, pick up and K100 (104, 107, 108) sts up right front to marker, 34 sts up right slope to shoulder, 30 (32, 34, 36) sts across back, 34 sts down left slope to marker, and K100 (104, 107, 108) sts to lower edge – 298 (308, 316, 320) sts. Beg with a P row, work in St st for 8 rows, end K row. K 1 row on wrong side for fold line. Beg with a K row, work in St st for 8 rows, end P row. Bind off loosely. Fold band in half along fold line and sew in place on wrong side.

Sew side and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves. Weave in ends.
